Currydale CEOS

Three members of the Currydale CEOS Club met for our meeting on October 7, 2021 at the WVU Conference Meeting Room for our monthly meeting. Please pray for all who were sick and unable to come plus some are in quarantine from exposure to COVID-19. Vice President, Sissy Johns called the meeting to order at 10:15a.m., followed by standing to recite the Pledge to the Flag.

   Meditations, a very beautiful reading, “I Love This Analogy” was presented by Dene Ryan. Dene also presented a very amusing reading, “Cow’s Don’t Give Milk” author unknown. Three people answered the roll call. Volunteer hours and Books Read were recorded. The Minutes were passed out for review. They were approved by those present. The Treasurer’s Report was also passed out for review. Likewise, it was approved by those present. The Flower Fund was also collected. Since our Health Motivator was absent, nothing was reported.

   Due to our Lesson Leader being absent, the lesson, “Who is Happy? And How Can I Be Happier? was reviewed by each one. The way we look at the world and the problems we face can have a significant impact on our happiness. For the ninth year, WV ., is listed as the unhappiest state in the U.S. There are five primary factors to happiness: Social relationships, Temperament and adaptability, Wealth, Society and Culture, and Positive thinking. Some tips and tools for improving happiness: Spend time with friends and family, Do something you have always wanted to do or have put off, Learn something new, Take a quiet moment, Move and Get enough sleep.

   We received a letter from the D.C. FRN seeking monies for a Scholarship Fund. This was tabled until our next meeting.

   There was nothing reported on Continuing Education and Marketing and Membership. Pertaining to Family Committee, Sissy had contacted the J. B. Heflin family and Mary Ann Gum to check on their wellbeing. Five books were read from the Purposeful Reading List.

   Our apple butter was to be made on October 1, but due to sickness it was cancelled. We will announce when a new date has been decided.

   Dene volunteered to attend the Achievement Day at the Park. She was going to present a memorial for our member, Kathy Crislip who passed away on July 6, 2021.

   Next was discussion about our Bazaar which will be at the D.C. Park on November 6, 2021. Plans were made to fill our tub for the Bazaar Raffle. Dene volunteered to purchase the tub, and everyone will furnish articles to fill it.

   Lesson Leader Training at Ext. Office for the November lesson will be Oct. 26, 2021. Stitching Day at the Ext. Office will be October 27, 9:00. We decided to hold the Friendship Tray until next meeting.

   Prayer Requests: Everyone in our club plus their families. James and Bill Kemper (Debbie’s Dad and Uncle who have COVID-19) both in hospital in Weston.

   Meeting was adjourned at 10:50a.m. Attending were Dian Currey, Sissy Johns and Dene Ryan.
