Volunteers Clean Downtown West Union

In an effort to spruce up downtown West Union in time for DCHS Homecoming, several volunteers worked together to make West Union shine.  WVU Doddridge Co. Extension agent Zona Hutson along with the 4-H group refreshed all the planters by weeding and installing mums.  The 4-H group also assisted the Lions Club members with sweeping curbs and vacant store fronts.  Several wheelbarrow loads of small gravel were removed from the street and used to fill potholes by the graveled rail trail parking area.  Once the dust settled, crew members with the West Union Fire department put the finishing touches on by hosing down Main Street from one end of town to the other end. It was definitely an evening of community pride that ended with the town looking refreshed and ready to host the DCHS Homecoming Parade.
