Johnny Edward Owens, Sr. 80, of Alma, WV, (McElroy Creek Community) departed this life on Friday, September 10, 2021, at United Hospital Center.
Johnny was born June 16, 1941 in the Big Flint Community of Doddridge County, WV a son of the late James C. and Nellie V. (Frashure) Owens. He was retired from Judel Glass of Salem, WV after 23 years of service. He attended Britton Gospel Mission Church and loved going to revivals. He enjoyed his family, cookouts, fishing, and hunting.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca “Jean” Owens; son, Johnny E. Owens, Jr. (Racheal) of Alma, WV and daughter, Brenda Leasure of Pennsboro, WV; grandson, Noah Leasure of Salem, WV, and sisters, Mary Owens of West Union, WV and Florence Murphy of Shirley, WV.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by infant granddaughter, Meghan Leasure; step mother, Opay Gay Owens and siblings, Junior Owens, Grant Owens, Wayne Owens, Agnes Moore, Betty Calhoun, Mary Owens, Lenabelle Owens, James Owens, Buster Owens, Mike Owens, Danny Owens, and Billy Owens.
Funeral services will be 1pm, Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at the McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home in Pennsboro, WV with Rev. Gilbert Neely officiating. Burial will follow in the Keys Cemetery on Big Flint in Doddridge County, WV. Visitation will be from 4pm-8pm on Monday and from 11am-1pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.
