Cheerleading:

The “Unrecognized” Sport

A few weeks ago, DCHS chose those who will represent the school in leading supporters during football games and at other events.

Many of the young ladies pictured above and below have been front and center in leading the crowds from Youth League through middle school and now high school.

Throughout the years they have spent many hours in classes such as dance, acrobatics and cheer, learning and working as individuals and with teams.

Although cheerleading is now an Olympic sport and there are competitions both local and nationwide, there are some who still do not consider cheerleading as being a sport in its own right. So, congratulations to these young ladies and best wishes for your upcoming season.
