West Union Town Council Special Meeting – July 22, 2021

Meeting was called to order by Mayor Kortni A. Sandridge at 5:00 PM.   

Present: Mayor Kortni A. Sandridge. Council Members: James Brannam, Theresa Knight, James Musgrave, Donald Dotson, Jr..  Robin A. Valentine, City Clerk Office Assistant, Doug Cox, Water Plant Operator.

Guests:  Ryan Haws, Jason Heflin, Nellie Hurst, John Scott.

New Business:

Storage Tanks – Telemetry Units – Doug Cox spoke to Council explaining the units that are now in place have been damage by storm and spare parts have been used to fixed them, however it is a temporary fix and the units are obsolete and parts are no longer available.  Doug advised that there are 5 tanks and each needing a new unit as well as an upgrade at the water plant.  Each unit costs $16,000.00.  Payment plan might be an option but would have to be discussed and set up with CITCO Water, prior to coming out to site.  James Musgrave motioned to discuss options with Amberly Taylor, City Clerk regarding funds, Theresa Knight seconded the motion, all unanimously approved.

Old Business:

Dump Truck – Tabled – For further research – James Musgrave motioned to Table – Donald Dotson, Jr. seconded the motion all unanimously approved.

Doe Run Sewer Project – Ryan Haws and Jason Heflin with CEC Engineering spoke with Council regarding cost assessment – Easements needed signed and filed to proceed with IJDC Funding – James Musgrave motioned to proceed with easements – Theresa Knight seconded the motion, all unanimously approved.

Costilow – Louise Ave – Wabash Sewer Project caused property flooding and damage this was a problem prior to project – Ryan Simonton, Attorney with Kay, Casto and Chaney is to meet with Mr. Costilow.  Theresa Knight motioned to get before and after pictures from Burgess & Niple – James Musgrave seconded the motion, all unanimously approved.

Nellie Hurst – Ms. Hurst was there with her Attorney John Scott – James Musgrave motioned to go into Executive session @ 6:00pm – James Brannam seconed the motion, all unanimously approved.  Mayor called Special meeting back to Session at 6:35pm.

Theresa Knight made a motion to adjourn the meeting.  James Brannam seconded the motion.  Unanimous approval.
