The Weekly Shaman – July 28, 2021

The Green Lady is a fairy-like ghost that was believed to haunt many of the castles and manors in Great Britain. The Green Lady has characteristics that relate it to both fairies and ghosts, and in many parts of Great Britain, they are one and the same. Fairies are often described as wearing green garments connecting them to nature. The Green Lady is said to be pale with long red hair. Ghostly Green Ladies are claimed to haunt moors, ruins, and desolate places. Sometimes the Green Lady is described as a demon or some other kind of spirit. The Green Ladies connected to demons or fauns were said to hide goat-like legs underneath their green garments, hiding their obvious spooky pedigree.

Another type of ghost is the Grey Lady, so named because of their gray appearance. In this instance the Grey Ladies don’t necessarily wear grey, and often are described as wearing black, brown, or even white. The Grey Lady is the spirit of a woman who most likely died for love, notably violently, or pining away from a broken heart. They haunt castles or houses looking for their lost loves. These ghosts can become violent, even resorting to angry poltergeist-style activity. In the world of ghost folklore, the Grey Lady is quite famous with many reported sightings. Her presence can also be noted by the appearance of cold spots. There will be a sense of gloomy sadness surrounding her hauntings.

The latest issue of Night til Dawn is out on http://www.bloodredshadows.net and has four drawings by yours truly. I was glad that editor Barbara Custer used an old drawing that I completely forgot about, and it was one of my better drawings. And so it goes.
