Virginia Ann Davis “Ginger” Carpenter

   Virginia Ann Davis “Ginger” Carpenter, 85, of the Evergreen Hills community, Cottageville, WV passed away June 8, 2021.

   She was born December 16, 1935 in Clarksburg, WV the only daughter of Caris and Ethel (Wilcox) Davis. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Carpenter; grandson, Nathaniel Hafer and brothers, Arthur, Lloyd, Edward and Richard Davis.

   Ginger was an employee of the Hazel Atlas Glass Company in Clarksburg for seven years before moving to Cottageville to start another job, raising five children.  She was a retired school bus operator for the Jackson County Board of Education with 28 years of service. She enjoyed crocheting, feeding and watching birds, playing Phase-10, her John Deere tractor and spending time with her children and grandchildren, friends and neighbors.

   She attended the Cottageville United Methodist Church and was a member of the Jackson County Retired School Employees Association.

   Survivors include her children, Jackson Carpenter (Diane) of Birmingham, AL; Michelle Carpenter Shirley of Cottageville, Tamara Carpenter Barker of Sandyville, Donita Chaney (Lonnie) and Carissa Laura Hafer both of Ravenswood; grandchildren, Whitney Kirkbride, Alice Carpenter, Abby Carpenter, Zakara “Nikki” Shirley, Ali Cobb, Dustin Chaney, Calah Wilson, Zach Barker, Zaine Barker, Britni Simms, Josh Hafer and Jacob Hafer and 21 great grandchildren.

   Service were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV with Pastor Vera Archer officiating. Burial followed  in the Ravenswood Cemetery. Visitation was  from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
