Timothy Wayne Gawthrop

   Timothy Wayne Gawthrop, 61, of Salem, WV, departed this life on Sunday, April 11, 2021, at his residence, following an extended illness.

   Tim was born September 9, 1959 in Clarksburg, WV, a son of the late James E. and Wilma O. (Gregg) Gawthrop.  He was retired as chief of police for the town of West Union, WV after serving 30 years in law enforcement.  Tim loved being a police officer.  He later worked as a corporal for the state of WV in juvenile corrections in Salem, WV.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman,  Methodist by faith, fan of the Washington Redskins, and dearly loved his grandchildren.

   He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Eva (Perine) Gawthrop; children, Robert Gawthrop (Casey) of Michigan; Daniel Gawthrop (Amber) of Wilsonburg, WV; Shawn Gawthrop (Wendy) of Salem, WV; Josh Gawthrop (Staci) of Good Hope, WV; Eric Greathouse (Michelle) of Oxford, WV; Kevin Greathouse (Angie) of West Union, WV, and Hope Swiger (Shawn) of Lost Creek, WV; 16 grandchildren; brothers, Richard Gawthrop (Mary) of Marion County, WV; Chuck Gawthrop of Clarksburg, WV; sister, Betty Hinkle of Fairmont, WV; brother in law, Randy McCray of Mt. Clare, WV, and special friends, Pat and Steve Honce of Belington, WV.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Betty McCray.

   Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.  Tim will be laid to rest in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery near Pullman, WV.  McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home in Pennsboro is assisting the family with the arrangements.
