Job Description for Doddridge County Energy Express Site Supervisor 

Position responsibilities :

  • Work with county summer school staff to plan programming efforts for mentors.  
  • Serve as site supervisor from June 1– July 30, 2021 with no absences unless approved by the county contact.  
  • Supervise and train AmeriCorps members beginning June 1 through July 30, 2021. 
  • Set an overall positive and productive tone for the program, staying focused and committed to Energy Express’s philosophy and model.
  • Facilitate daily team meetings and training as needed throughout the program. 
  • Collaboratively plan, model, and supervise in the delivery of reading activities and teaching strategies for the AmeriCorps mentors. 
  • Facilitate team reflection at least once a week.  
  • Evaluate the performance of AmeriCorps members at least twice during the program. 
  • Work with county summer school staff to plan programming efforts for mentors.  
  • Maintain a sense of teamwork and cooperation among all those involved in the program.
  • Maintain open and honest communication with all those involved in the program.
  • Assume responsibility for facility and workspace designated for Energy Express.
  • Assist with program evaluation and complete required reports and forms by established deadlines.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

   No professional contract that overlaps Energy Express program dates of June 1 – July 30, 2021 (Exceptions made for the extension of the school year) 

   Salary: $6,000 (June 1- July 30, 2021)     

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree awarded prior to June 10, 2021 or a combination of education and experience (High School Diploma or GED and four years of full-time directly related experience at a commensurate level or Associate Degree and two years of full-time directly related experience at a commensurate level).
  • Energy Express experience as a site supervisor or AmeriCorps member preferred.
  • Knowledge of children’s reading and children’s literature.
  • Ability to supervise and hold accountable 5-9 college students serving as mentors and support them in meeting program objectives.
  • Ability to train mentors in the Energy Express model, including reading strategies, writing, art, team building activities, and guidance.
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with young adults.
  • Ability to help mentors reflect on service experiences.
  • Ability to serve as a positive role model for mentors and children.

Job Description for Doddridge County Energy Express Mentor

   Energy Express mentors will serve eight weeks supporting the Doddridge County Board of Education Summer School.   Mentors will provide daily programming for children in grades K-8, supported and supervised by a site supervisor.  

Mentor’s Duties: 

  • Work directly with children serving as a mentor to create a print-riching environment focused on reading, writing, and art that makes learning fun for a small group of school-age children. 
  • A mentor eats breakfast and lunch with the children.
  • Each day, the site team (mentors and site supervisor) meets to reflect, train and prepare for the next day.  
  • Support effort led by the classroom teacher.
  • Daily activities include recreation, art, one-on-one reading, read-aloud, and community service projects. 

   Time requirement: June 1-July 31, 2021
   Pay: $12/hour
