Thomas Carl Barnes, 85, of Salem passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Holbrook Nursing Home in Buckhannon. He was born September 17, 1935 in Frankfort, NY, son of the late Stanley Wayne and Matie E Humphery Barnes.
Thomas retired in 1982 from a career in the United States Air Force, after thirty years of service. After he retired, his passion became traveling the United States in his RV and seeing new places. He also enjoyed fishing and playing the lottery. Thomas had a true passion for life and enjoyed every minute of his retirement.
Thomas is survived by his son Stanley O’Dell Barnes of Salem; daughter-in-law, Theresa Pettit; three grandchildren, Christopher Michael German, Salem, Carl Wayne Barnes, Nutter Fort, and Ashley (Daniel) Colburn, New Milton; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Hailey, Emaleigh, William, Levi, Connor, Nora, and Delaney.
A private burial at the West Virginia National Cemetery will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at 1:00 PM with the Harrison County Honor Guard and the United States Air Force Honor Guard officiating.
