SCHOOLS SAY GOODBYE TO BELOVED OFFICERS

Doddridge County Schools will have two new Prevention Resource Officers (PROs) beginning January 19th.  Deputy J. D. Snyder and Deputy Chad Modesitt will be returning to the Sheriff’s Department in new capacities.

Deputy J.D. Snyder has been the PRO at the High School since 2009.  During his time at the High School, he has provided security, taught courses on driving safety, sexting, and other teenage harm issues.  He recognized for his knowledge and expertise, being appointed the Central Regional PRO Liaison to assist other PROs in the region. Officer Snyder provided an important role model for high school students.  He was a mentor, an educator, and provided needed outreach between the Sheriff’s Department, the schools, and the broader community.  High School Principal Katrina White said “We are grateful for the safe and secure environment that Officer Snyder assisted in creating here at DCHS.  His priority of developing relationships with our students was vital for their overall health and success.  Officer Snyder’s presence will be missed by the staff and students and we wish him continued success.”

Deputy Chad Modesitt has been the PRO at the Middle School since 2013.  Deputy Modesitt brought his unique humor and adventurous attitude to his work.  He provided instruction in conflict mediation, bullying and respecting authority.  He also met with at-risk students in one-on-one sessions.  He led the “Serve and Protect Club” as well as being a coach for the “Game On Program,” an afterschool program at Doddridge County Park where he took students on hikes, played ultimate frisbee as well as other outdoor activities. Middle School Principal Chris Cress said, “Officer Modesitt has been a valuable asset to Doddridge County Middle School during his tenure as PRO here. He will be greatly missed by the entire Doddridge County Middle School family, students, faculty, and parents. We wish him the best in his future endeavors and look forward to working with the new PRO who will fill his position.”

Doddridge County Schools Superintendent, Adam Cheeseman, said “We are very sad to say goodbye to such fine examples of law enforcement.  During their time with us we have seen decreases in bullying, harassment, and fights at our schools.  They have provided fantastic leadership both in their buildings and at sporting events.  We have relied upon our PROs for instruction in safety matters and in demonstrating the best in police practices.  They will be missed.”

Sheriff Clinton Boring will be placing Deputy Chris Garner at the Elementary School and Deputy Kirby Miller at the High School.  Deputy Ryan Thomas will be moving from the Elementary School to the Middle School.
