Why we need a Saviour

A great many people go through life believing that when they die, their good deeds will overbalance their bad ones, thus permitting them to enter heaven. Some folks try to believe there is no hereafter, others never hear about God, heaven, hell or Christ, and many reject the thought entirely. God’s Word(  which is the Bible), plainly tells the condition of man, what he needs and why. If we will only read the Bible we can soon find the truth for ourselves. We will endeavor to point out some of the truths God has given us why we need a Saviour to take away our sins.

God’s Word Says: We are all sinners

“All we like sheep have gone astray, we have turned everyone to his own way: and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.”   Isaiah 53:6. “As it is written, there is none righteous, no not one: For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:10, 23. “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” 1 John 1:8. “But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8. “ Much more than, being now justified by is blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him” Romans 5:9.

Our sins keep us away from God

“ But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you.” Isaiah 59:2. “ And whosoever was found written in the book of life as cast into the lake of fire.” Revelation 20:15. “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23. So, from reading God’s Word we find that sin is in every one of us, and will keep us out of heaven and send us to Hell. But we read in John 3:16 that “ God so Loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” God in his great mercy and love provided a way out for man by coming down to earth in the form of His Son Jesus Christ and dying on the cross for us.

You were born innocent, not knowing right from wrong. You were born with a sinful nature(Psalm 51:5). At the age of accountability, you sinned and became a sinner(Romans 3:23).     “There is none righteous, no not one,”( Romans 3:10). “Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness,” (Romans 3:14) “The soul that sinneth, it shall die,” (Ezekiel 18:4).

Be honest with yourself and God.    Are you born again? John 3:7 Sat, “ You must be born again.” Do you live in sin? 1 John 3:8 says, He that committeth sin is of the devil.” What is sin? 1 John 3:4: “Sin is the transgression of the law.”

Acknowledge your sin to Jesus. Psalm 51:3: “ I acknowledge my transgression and my sin is ever before me.” Luke 15:21,  “I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight.” Psalm 32:5, “ I acknowledge my sin unto thee.” Luke 18:13, “God be merciful to me a sinner.”

Confess your sins to Jesus. Romans 10:9, “If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus…” Proverbs 28:13, “ He that covert his sins shall not prosper, but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.” 1 John 1:9, “ If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins.”

Forsake your sinful ways. “Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts,” Isaiah 55:7.

Repent your sins. Luke 13:3, Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” Acts 3:19, “ Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out.”

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 10:10, “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness.”  It is not hard to believe and receive Jesus into the heart when you acknowledge your sins, repent of your sins, confess your sins and turn from the path of sin.

Receive Jesus into your heart. John 1:12, “But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of god.” 1 John 5:12, “ He that hath the So hath life.” Romans 8:1, “ There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus.” Romans 8:16, “The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.”
