The Blood Trail

Anyone who has ever hunted big game at one time or another has found themselves on their knees crawling through thorns and thickets looking for the next drop of blood that will bring them closer to their trophy.   Sometimes, the blood trail is easy to follow with good sign and easy walking. Other times, the sign is faint and the path is rough. On occasion, the search carries over into the darkness of night with a lantern needed to light your way along the blood trail.

How similar is this hunt for trophy game in comparison to your search for true peace and happiness? Jesus made a way for us to have life and life more abundantly (John 10: 10) through the shedding of His blood on an old rugged cross at Calvary’s mountain. It is by His mighty sacrifice of His own life that we could be forgiven of our sins and be made heirs of eternal life. All that is required of us is to believe in fact that Jesus shed His blood for our sins that whosoever (includes you) believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3: 16).

The blood trail of Jesus leads back to the Cross where He died for you and me so that we might appear worthy to God to receive all the goodness He has in store for those who believe.

Sometimes, the blood trail of living a Christian life is easy and clear.  At times, the sign is everywhere. Other times, it is hard traveling, and the sign seems to be running out.

Sometimes, we find ourselves surrounded by darkness and clear off the path, but the Word of God is there as a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path (Psalm 119: 105).

At times, you’ll be on your knees at the top of the mountain thanking Jesus for the easy trail you are on and other times you’ll be on your knees begging for help. Jesus promises us as long as we are on His “Blood Trail” that He will never leave us nor forsake us (Deut. 31: 6).

May you always find your game because of practice, woodsmanship, well-placed shots and good tracking skills. But more importantly, may you find Jesus Christ through your desire to have eternal life in Heaven through: reading your Bible; your desire to attend a Bible believing church; and, the belief that Jesus’ blood provides a way for all sinners to have their name placed in God’s record book of trophies – The Lamb’s Book of Life (Revelation 21: 27).

In Romans 10: 9 – 10 and 13, we find how to receive the assurance our name is listed in the Book of Life: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For whosoever (means you) shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” If you seek this assurance, please pray the following prayer with a sincere and accepting heart.

“Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and cannot save myself. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins. I repent of my sins and accept You as my personal Lord and Savior. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for saving me. In Jesus’ Holy and Precious name I pray, Amen.”
