State Turns Doddridge GOLD on School Metrics Map

From: Adam Cheeseman, Superintendent of Doddridge County Schools

The West Virginia Department of Education and the Department of Health and Human Resources placed Doddridge County Schools in the GOLD color in its weekly Saturday Education Map. The main changes to Doddridge County Schools will be (1) face coverings will now be required at all times for grades 3-12, (2) Parents/Guardians only will be permitted at Athletic and extra-curricular activities and (3) Doddridge County teams can only compete against teams from other counties that are also GOLD on the State Saturday Education Map. In-person education will continue for those students attending school in-person. Doddridge County Schools continues to offer the option for students to learn virtually. This option has been offered from the beginning of the year and will continue to be available for parents who want their children to learn from home.Doddridge County’s Homecoming, which was previously set for Friday October 9th, will be postponed and a new date will be announced very soon. The Homecoming parade will be held during the school day and will only be open to students and parents and guardians of the Homecoming Court. Homecoming is a valuable experience for our students and Doddridge County High School is making every effort to ensure that Homecoming is celebrated by our students. Unfortunately, there will not be a dance this fall. A short, socially distanced, pep rally will occur in the stadium for high school students and staff after the conclusion of the parade. Please remember, if your child is displaying symptoms such as a cough, fever or other cold or flu-like symptoms, please do not send them to school. If they continue to be ill, please have them examined by a doctor prior to returning to school. Please do not allow your child to return to school until they are fever-free for three days.Thank you so very much for all your support. In making these decisions we are balancing the health and safety needs of our students with the need to have them experience as normal a school year as possible.
