Clara (Grandt) Santucci- Inducted–WVU Sports Hall of Fame Cross Country and Track and Field

It has been announced that Clara (Grandt) Santucci is one of eleven who will be inducted into the WVU Sports Hall of Fame for 2020. 

   Honors earned by Santucci, while attending DCHS include All-American Honors by finishing 13th  in the 2009 NCAA; 11th in the 500- meter steeple chase; All American in the 2010 NCAA Championship and 4th in the 10,000 meters. 

   She also broke school records  in the 10,000 meter in 2009 with a time of 33:16.96  and the 2009 Big east Championship in the 5,000 meters with the time of 16:07.55. 

   Later, in 2010, she won the Big East 10,000 meters with the time of 33:31.80 and the 10K at the NCAA Regionals. 

    After graduating from DCHS, she went on to qualify three times for the US Olympics Trials member of the USA Half-marathon Championship Team and became the first American since 2009 to win the Pittsburgh Marathon, winning it two times.
