The Doddridge County Health received and distributed a Health Alert # 169,  titled New Laboratory Reporting Elements for COVID-19 and Death Reporting, from Ayne Amjad, MD, MPH, Commissioner and State Health Officer, Bureau for Public Health, West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources and  dated August 20, 2020.

This update stated that the WV DHHR & BPH is continuing their response to COVID-19 and their “purpose of the advisory was to update the providers on new national requirements for  COVID-19 laboratory test elements.”

The additional requirements for reporting includes if the person is a health care worker, has symptoms, a resident of a congregate facility, is pregnant or has been in the hospital.

It goes on to ask they continue to immediately report all positive COVID-19 lab results to the local Health Department of the patient’s county of residence, report suspected Multi-inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C) and work with other labs to collect the additional data elements.
