Direction from DC Schools Concerning Attending Athletic Events

Rules for Attending Doddridge County Athletic Competitions

Rules for attending Doddridge County Schools athletic competitions were recently released. Based upon guidance issued by the West Virginia Secondary Schools Activities Commission (WVSSAC), only immediate household members of athletes, band members and coaches will be permitted at games.

For football games, this means that when you arrive at the game you will need to produce identification at the student parking lot behind the High School.  If your name is on the list of immediate household members of athletes, band members and coaches, you will be permitted to continue down the hill to the stadium.

All spectators will be required to wear face coverings while entering and moving around the facility.  Once spectators are in their seats and are socially distanced, they will be permitted to remove their face covering.  Band parents and families will have their own separate seating.

No coolers will be permitted. Home spectators will use the rest room facilities at the baseball field.

If you exit the gates of the stadium you will not be allowed to reenter the stadium. This includes going to your vehicle in the parking lot.

All WVSSAC sponsored extracurricular activities will be using the Governor’s color-coded scheme this fall.  While the color-code remains Green only immediate household members of athletes, band members and coaches will be permitted at the extracurricular event.  This applies to Football, Volleyball, Cross Country and Cheer competitions.  Governor Justice will release the color-codes each Saturday night for the following week.  For Football, Volleyball and Cheer competitions a county that has a Yellow color-code will only permit parents of athletes, band members and coach’s spouses. For Cross Country there will not be a change for who can attend competitions with the color change from Green to Yellow.  In the event the color-code is changed to Orange or Red, then all extracurricular competitions will not be allowed.

Doddridge County Schools would like to express its sincere thanks to the Bulldog community for following these rules.  After Week Two of the football season the WVSSAC will review its rules to determine if any changes are necessary.  We encourage everyone to follow the rules so that more restrictive rules are not put in place.

Doddridge County High School’s first football scrimmage will be held this Friday, August 28. The band will not be performing at the scrimmage, so band members’ household members will not be able to attend.  Band members’ household members will only be able to attend competitions where the band is performing.
