Jackie Lee Smarr, 81 of Doe Run West Union departed this life on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 15, 1938 in Ritchie County a son of the late Floyd Phoenix and Clara Sinnett Smarr. On April 18, 1998 he married Nancy Dooley Smarr who survives. Also surviving are Darlene Smarr ex-wife and her companion Charles Clark.
Jack is also survived by four daughters, Jackie LeBel, West Union, Bridgette Greaver (Mike Swisher), West Union, Poki Johnston (Chris), Wheeling, Jessyca Hayes (Denny) West Union, one son, Greg Nicholson (Debbie), Grantsville, 14 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, three sisters, Opal Smith, New Cumberland, Juanita Nutter Burris, Mansfield, OH, Sharon Walker (Ronnie Burns) West Union, two brothers, Junior Smarr (Sarah), West Union, Steve Smarr (Theresa) Charleston and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by two daughters, Tina Nicholson, Debbie Barnes, one son, Brent Smarr, two brothers, Delmas & Bud Smarr and one sister, Dorothy Waggle.
Mr. Smarr was the owner and operator of Smarr Logging Co. for 50 years. He enjoyed camping, antiquing, yard sales, working on cars. Jack had a great love for country music and he enjoyed playing his guitar and singing. His favorite past time was spending time with his family.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Crimson River Baptist Church, Doe Run West Union on Thursday, July 16, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Dallas Waggle, nephew and Pastor Denver Burnside presiding. Interment will follow in the Freeman Cemetery, Rt. 18 N. West Union. The family will receive friends in the Crimson River Church after11 a.m. on Thursday until time of service.
