$1,000 RAISED TO DATE FOR DIGITIZATION OF RARE LOCAL NEWSPAPERS

Doddridge County Historical Society initiated a fundraising drive to raise the necessary funds (Est. $10,000) for digitizing rare newspapers donated to the organization.

These rare newspapers offer a glimpse into our community during the Great Depression, WWI, WWII, Korea, the 1950 Flood, damaging tornados that devastated us.  Many of these newspapers are from as far back as the 1933, 1934, 1938 and more.  Many are not found anywhere else, not even in the WV State Archives or our library.  That is why upon completion of the digitizing process, copies will be given to the Doddridge County Library and the WV State Archives in Charleston.

It is so important that we preserve them for future generations.  We asked for donations and this week donations were received from Ken Adams, Judy Bee, and Patricia Harris.

We hope that our fellow citizens will share our views for this project.  If you do and would like to donate to this project, please send to: Doddridge County Historical Society, P.O. Box 444, West Union, WV  26456.  Make check payable to Doddridge County Historical Society and write the words digitize newspapers in the memo.

The total raised to date is $1,000
