Blandville Water Line Extension Update

The Doddridge County Public Service District (DCPSD) is currently in the pre-construction phase of a water line extension project that will provide water to residents who live on Route 18 South from the Rt 18/ Rt 50 intersection to Lick Run in Blandville. This project is funded by the Doddridge County Commission and a grant from the US Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration.

The DCPSD is working with a team of experienced engineers, accountants and attorneys to complete this project as soon as possible. We hope this update will help our customers better understand where we are on this project.

There is an enormous amount of work that goes into constructing a water line once the funding has been secured. The DCPSD is bound by procedures that must be followed prior to publishing bids for construction. The West Virginia Public Service Commission (PSC) has the final say on all aspects of such projects.

The project has been designed and permits for the work have been approved. We have currently met the requirement of procuring rights-of-way and land acquisitions, but we cannot make a submission to the PSC until various accounting measures have been finalized. Those are now in progress. Once that is completed and submitted to the PSC, we must wait for their recommendations and final approval before we can go out to bid.

We have thus far collected meter deposits from ten customers, with the expectation of more as the project progresses. Such deposits are required by the grantor and the PSC. If anyone in the project area is interested in receiving public water, please call our office and we will send you an application. The meter deposit is $100 if paid before construction. If you decide to purchase a meter after construction, the fee will be $300.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call Cathy Trent at 304-873-1652. Or feel free to attend our next meeting on July 16th at 1:30 in the downstairs activity room at the Doddridge County Library in West Union. Please bring a face covering if you plan to attend.
