Evelyn Sue (Barker) Davis, 79 years old of Long Run Road, Salem went home to be with the Lord and her babies that had gone on before her on Friday, June 26, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. Evelyn was born on July 22, 1940 on Frank’s Run a daughter of the late Homer and Irene Strother Barker.
On October 20, 1956 she married Everett Eugene “Dick” Davis, who survives. During their 63 years of marriage they shared, 12 children, 21 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. She made her home with her husband and her son Kenny Eugene who provided care for both of them.
Her surviving children are Brenda Mayle, Linda (Richard) Crouser, Sandra (Dave) Adams, Peggy (Kenny) Lloyd, Kenny Eugene Davis, Rodney (Missy) Davis, Terry Davis, and Pam (Billy) Hitt, brother, Larry Barker, sisters Lorraine (Delbert) Moore and Betty (Lendell) Yeater.
She was preceded in death by four children, Jody Lynn Davis, Johnny Davis, Joey Davis and Kevin Davis, two grandchildren, Jason Adams and Robbie Lloyd; son-in-law Ray Mayle; daughter Brenda’s companion Jim Hurst; siblings Gary Barker, Steve Barker, Chuck Barker, Ronald Barker, Donald Barker, Billy Joe Barker, her twin Eleanor Pratt, Rosa Lee Barker, Dessie “Cookie” Cardeno, Virginia Belle Bonnell; sister-in-law Bobbie Barker.
Evelyn was a homemaker all of her life. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved the Lord with all her heart. She enjoyed being surrounded by her large family, attending church and revival services, and singing
along to her favorite gospel music. She previously attended Mt. Hebron Baptist Church.

Funeral services were conducted in the Harbert Funeral Home 287 W. Main St. Salem on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at 2:00PM with Kenny Lloyd presiding. Interment followed in the Salem I.O.O.F. Memorial Park. The family received friends in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM. Expressions of sympathy may be extended to the family at www.harbertfunerals.com.
