Statement from Doddridge County Commission

The Doddridge County Commission has taken significant steps to date to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus, but the virus remains a serious threat to the health, safety and welfare of the public. Further efforts and actions are necessary to disrupt the spread of the virus and to mitigate the impact of COVID-19, including the continued closure of the courthouse and other county annex buildings through Thursday, April 30, 2020. The county offices will remain open with limited staff during normal business hours and access will remain restricted to employees only. Restricted access to the courthouse and other county annex buildings will remain in effect until further notice. This restriction limit will not apply to mandated court or judicial appearances. However, for these mandated hearings, only the Defendants, Defense Counsel, and witnesses requested by subpoena will be permitted unless otherwise approved by the Court prior to the hearing.

We encourage the public to use regular mail, call, or email our offices for information and to conduct business. The Doddridge County website can be used to access all online services provided for payment of taxes, researching records, and viewing mapping information. Please check the county website for updates. Also, all contact information for county offices and other county agencies are available on the website at www.doddridgecountywv.gov and also posted on the courthouse doors.

Gov. Jim Justice announced today that after consulting with the state’s medical experts, along with Secretary of State Mac Warner and Attorney General Patrick Morrisey, West Virginia’s 2020 Primary Election is being moved to June 9 instead of the originally scheduled date of May 12.    For any questions regarding voting, individuals are encouraged to contact  the Office of the County Clerk (Address: 108 Court Street, Suite 1, West Union, West Virginia 26456 or call (304) 873-2631 to request an absentee ballot. This will assist in limiting exposure for the voting public, as well as poll workers.

Just a reminder that this situation is very fluid, things are changing some   times within hours, so we anticipate other measures may need to be taken.
