David Gale Bland

David Gale Bland, 72 of Blandville departed this life on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on July 3, 1947 in Parkersburg a son of the late Arthur W. and Dortha Bailey Bland.  On August 18, 1973 he married Victoria Richards Bland who survives.

Also surviving are one son, David Bruce Bland, Frederick, MD., one sister, Joan Bland Dils and husband, William, Gans, PA.

Mr. Bland was a 1965 graduate of Doddridge County High School and received his BA in Music Education from Salem College.  He was employed by the Doddridge County Board of Education as a Band Director for 7 years and retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a Rural Mail Carrier with 32 years’ service. David was a member of Friendship Lodge # 56 AF & AM West Union, a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason with membership in Clarksburg & Wheeling Bodies.  He was a member of Nemesis Shrine, Parkersburg and a member of the Oriental Shrine Band. He was also a member of Order of Eastern #56 West Union where he served as Past Patron.  David was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist where he served in many capacities including; Chairperson of Pastor Parish Committee, Finance Committee and Trustee Committee.  He was a member of the church choir and was always available to complete any task that was needed when it came to Church & Vehicle Maintenance.  The family wishes to gratefully acknowledge the wonderful loving care and support that was provided by the nurses and aides of WVU Hospice.

Private graveside services will be held in the Masonic Memorial Park, Crystal Lake with Pastor David McCauley presiding.  Masonic Graveside Rites will be conducted by Friendship Lodge # 56 AF & AM. A Celebration of Life Service will be announced at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may be extended to the family at www.spurgeonfunerals.com.
