Mid Ohio Valley Ballet Company To Present Beauty and the Beast

   Mid Ohio Valley Ballet Company will present the ballet “Beauty and the Beast” on Friday, March 27, 2020 at Marietta High School Auditorium and Friday, April 3 at Blennerhassett School Auditorium. Both performances begin at 7:30 p.m. The ballet is based on the original 1807 verse by Charles Lamb and the 1757 prose version by Madame de Beaumont.

   Choreographer by Suzy Gunter, she has created an exciting dance version of the story with something for everyone. Romance, sword fighting,  magic and adventure! The ballet follows the adventures of a handsome prince and Beauty and her family.

   Anna Menarchek and Grace Sears will alternate the role of Beauty and Owen Tidd will portray the Beast. Guest Artist Danny Bayer will portray the Father and Jolene Troisi and Claire Hudson will alternate the role of the Sorceress. Beauty’s sister’s will be alternated by Catherine Hudson, Behthany Truax, Sarah Thomas and Bella Smith. Rounding out the cast will be Sarah Harvey, Hallie Pierce, Mallory Thomas, Alia Ott, Caolinn Craig, Kaylynn Dunlap, Bailey Gibeau, Liam Tidd and Kane Smith.

   30 Trainees and students form the MOVBallet Academy of Fine Arts, the official school of the MOVBallet, will round out the cast.

   MOVB is a professional, non-profit dance group that performs over 30 concerts, lecture demonstrations and Arts in Education performances annually. MOVB has toured extensively throughout West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Ohio since 1983 presenting specially produced one hour versions of the current ballet through the highly acclaimed “School Days Performing Arts Series.” This special arts in education program has allowed over 30,000 public school children to see a live arts performance who may otherwise never have the opportunity.

   Reserved seat tickets for the ballet are $15.00 for Adults and $8.00 for children under 18 and Senior Citizens over 65.

   Tickets can be purchased in person beginning March 16 at the MOVB Offices, 1311 Ann St., Parkersburg, box office hours are Tuesday & Thursday 4:30 – 7:30 p.m.

   Tickets can be purchased in advance and charged to Visa/Mastercard/Discover by calling (304) 422-5538 and credit card sales end Tuesday March 24. After March 24, tickets will be available at the studio box office through March 25 with check or cash as form of payment only.

   Tickets will also be available at the door the night of the performance, box office choice only.
