Virginia Lea Jones

VIRGINIA LEA JONES

Virginia Lea Jones, 84, of Pennsboro, WV, passed away on March 5, 2020, surrounded by family. She was born April 16, 1935 in Fairmont, WV, to the late George L. Cox and Esther (Perine) Coplin.

In 1958, she began her career with local garment factories, working full time until she retired in 1996 after 38 years.

She was a member of the Pennsboro Baptist Church. She exemplified the biblical values of patience, faithfulness, goodness, mercy and love.

Surviving are six sons, Allen and Connie Jones of Vincent, OH; Gary and Teresa Jones of Parkersburg, WV; Eddie and Robin Jones of Port Orange, FL; Roy and Kim Jones of Charleston, SC; Rodney and Doris Jones of Pennsboro, WV; Chris and Lea Jones of Pennsboro, WV; and one daughter, Janice and Kenny Meier of Wilmington, NC.

She was a loving grandmother of 19, Olivia Jones, Amanda (Jeremy) Sutton, Nathan Jones, Jeremy Jones, Wesley (Amanda) Jones, Ali (Bill) Swart, Robby Postlewaite, Josh (Melissa) Jones, Johnny (Lisa) Jones, Jessica (Joel) Swisher, Ashley Jones, Justin Jones, Derek Jones, Nicole Jones, Ila Jones, Ziva Jones, and Urban Jones. She was blessed with 13 greatgrandchildren, Colt Sutton, Caleb Sutton, Ella Jones, Kylie Jones, Alaina Swart, Logan Swart, Levi Jones, Gracie Jones, Cadean Haddox, Logan Hartshorn, Avery Jones, Alayna Jones, and Eilee Jo Jones.

Also surviving is her brother-in-law, Howard (Mary Lou) Fawley of Brandon, FL, and two nephews, 

Howard Fawley, Jr. and Mark Fawley.

Virginia is preceded in death by her husband, Creed H. Jones, Jr., one brother, George L. Cox, her beloved sister, Violet Fawley, and four half-sisters Julia Cox Perkins, Dorothy Cox Bush, Nola Cox Townson, and Elinor Cox Miller.

Virginia’s family was the very heart of her life, and was a friend to many. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, reading, feeding birds, and tending to her beautiful flowers.

Services will be held at 1pm on March 7, at the McCullough Rogers Funeral Home in Pennsboro, with visitation from 11-1. She will be laid to rest in the Oxford Baptist Cemetery, Oxford, WV.
